ATS has been awarded of the contract for the new DeNOx SCR units of the waste to energy plant in Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes (France)
SUEZ is the only international company focusing exclusively on water and waste management. The Group is at the top of the market: no. 1 in the waste market in France, no. 2 in Europe and no. 4 worldwide; no. 2 in the water market in France and Europe, and no. 3 worldwide.
Over the course of its history, SUEZ has participated to some of the main social changes of its time: health in the 19th century, urban comfort and quality of life in the 20th century. The 21st century has ushered in radical change in modes of production and consumption to protect resources of our planet; in addition to its ambition to become the leader in sustainable resource management, SUEZ aims at being evaluated on all aspects of its performance, whether it be operational, financial, environmental, social or societal.
SUEZ key figures
One of the key parameters for the evaluation of environmental performance is definitely the emission of greenhouse gases. With this in mind SUEZ the planned an intervention on the WTE plant in Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes in the department of Seine-et-Marne in which it is meant to install a low-temperature system for the reduction of nitrogen oxides.
This plant, owned by SIETREM (Syndicat Mixte pour l'Enlèvement et le Traitement des Résidus Ménagers), is managed by NOVERGIE (from the SUEZ group), which, in common agreement with the owner, decided to improve the environmental performance by reducing their emissions in nitrogen oxides.

In particular WTE power plant in Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes is composed by two lines:
- Line 1 is sized for the incineration of 8 ton/h of waste having calorific power of 2.200 kcal/kg, commissioned in 1985 and revamped in 1995.
- Line 2 is sized for the incineration of 12 ton/h of waste having calorific power of 2.200 kcal/kg, commissioned in 1995.
Both lines are realized with rotary kiln, boilers and flue gas treatment made by: ESP, sodium bicarbonate and lignite injection, fabric filters.
In this framework, SUEZ has decided to entrust ATS the construction of two new low-temperature SCR DeNOx that will be installed downstream of the existing fabric filters. Furthermore a casing with a modular configuration will allow the thermal regeneration of a portion of the catalyst while the other compartments will be able to handle the totality of the flow rate without any reduction of the load in the boiler. This will allow to have maximum performances even at temperatures where normally ammonium bisulfate starts its formation on catalyst surface.
